There are 29 national bases in Antarctica. Chile, Argentina, Russia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, India, China, Poland, Bulgaria, USA, Japan and many European countries are doing scientific research at these bases. By changing its “observer country " status to "consultant country" in the Antarctic Treaty System, Turkey aims to have a say in the continent administration. One of the requirements for transition to continental consultant status is the establishment of a scientific research base in Antarctica. Antarctica does not belong to any country. For this reason, you need to be a consultant country in order to take part in the administration.
