Professor Dr. İsmail Demir graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1982 as an aircraft engineer. He has Ms degree in Applied Mechanics in Michigan University and Airplane Engineering in Purdue University. He has a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University. From 1992 to 2003, he served as faculty and research fellow at several universities and research institutes in Saudi Arabia, USA, and Canada. Prof. Demir has published many articles on composite materials, crack mechanics, theoretical and numerical elastic modeling and micro-electromechanics in various international journals and conferences. In 2006, after serving as the General Manager of THY Teknik A.Ş., he was appointed as the Undersecretary for the Defense Industries in April 2014 and he is currently the President of Defense Industries.
