Artificial intelligence finally attracted attention of the Indian government. Minister of Economy, Arun Jaitley, announced during his budget talks on February 1, 2018 that he will lead parliamentary think tank Niti Aayog to prepare a national artificial intelligence program that will include research and development activities. The government's determination also reflected in its budget figures: the government's budget allocated to Digital India, an umbrella program for artificial intelligence, machine learning, three-dimensional printing and other technology dissemination, has nearly doubled to $ 477 million.
