In our world, where the phenomenon of terrorism becomes more and more complex, the struggle with this phenomenon has become so dangerous and difficult. For this reason, states are changing and adapting their combat strategies, tactics and weapons to address this new phenomenon. Scientific and technological breakthroughs have caused significant changes in the tactics and weapons used in the conflict.

Artificial Intelligence is one of the leading technologies in the fight against terrorism. Today, due to the increasing interest and expanding areas of application, Artificial Intelligence is no longer a subject studied only by scientists and has turned into a discussion topic that concerns all humanity.

As a direct result of the developments in information and communication technologies, major breakthroughs have been realized especially in the last 20 years in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The use of Artificial Intelligence has increased in decision support, planning, and operation processes in military, civil, and commercial areas. Today, Artificial Intelligence is used in a wide range of applications such as personal applications, economy, defense systems, automation, and production tools.

STM ThinkTech Future Technology Institute - Turkey’s first technology based think tank - organized its third panel entitled as “A New Player in The Fight Against Terrorism: Artificial Intelligence” on the 25th of December 2018 and brought together prominent names in defense and security sector and high-level subject matter experts.
