Worldwide there are many different terms used for UAVs such as Drone, UAV, Unmanned Aircraft System and Aircraft Controlled by Remote Pilot. Although there have been intensive studies to establish common terminology by a large number of different aviation authorities, especially international aviation organizations, there is still not any consensus on the common terms that are fully accepted by the sector, the media and the public.
There has been similar difficulties in Turkey. Despite the use of similar terminology for UAVs by authorities in Turkey, the terminology that is used and adopted by the media and public is completely different.
